 | | John "Beatz" Holohan [R.I.P.] | |
| | On the morning of October 31st, 2005, Emo/Hard Core band, Bayside (www.baysideisacult.com), was involved in terrible automobile accident, claiming the life of beloved drummer, and friend, John "Beatz" Holohan. The band's tour van flipped after hitting a patch of ice outside of Cheyenne, WY, while on the Never Sleep Again Tour with label mates Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein and Aiden. Bass player Nick Ghanbarian was also injured, along with several members of their crew.
John Beatz was a personal friend of mine. We met through Big Daddy KANE's brother Shane, who used to live next door to John in Jamaica Estates in Queens, NY. I had the pleasure of knowing John Beatz through his college years where, at St. Johns University, he was the leader of the school band. During this time I worked as a NYC Paramedic and used to frequently give John rides to school up Union Tpke from his apartment on Parsons Blvd.
John Beatz was far beyond merely a talented drummer. He was the coolest person another man could know. We all love John Beatz, and will forever miss him.
I ask that you remember John Beatz, and the Holohan family, this holiday season. There has been a memorial fund set up to help John's parents, his 2 brothers and his wife. Please go to Paypal and send your donation to johnbeatzmemorial@victoryrecords.com. Every little bit helps.
We Love you John Beatz, and we will never stop.
